Toronto psych-rockers SPECTRE live in the ominous tension between the notes of a slinky psychedelic groove on their new single "On The Telephone." We've got the premiere of the video, directed and written by founding member Kai Davey-Bellin, edited and shot by Natalie Logan and Neil Cavalier, who recently took on the Canadian government in Phèdre's Idle No More-celebrating "Ancient Nouveau."
"On The Telephone" casts the members of SPECTRE alongside musician Tess Parks for a trip into shady territory. Memories of Tarantino, Memento, and budding cinephiles are all over every frame. Plot? There's a mysterious girl, a briefcase everyone wants, and a domesticated moustache man who ends up with a bloody face and might be dead, thanks to the magic of non-linear editing. The band has their self-titled and On The Telephone EPs up for download right here.
