First the Pixies had “Bagboy,” and the world gave a respectful nod, as if to say, “Hey, glad you guys are back” instead of making any comment on the actual song, which sounded like an OK Pixies song written in 2013. That song is not be on the recently reunited (but still Kim Deal-less) band's first new studio release in over twenty years, a four track release called EP-1, which they've announced and released today. You can buy it right now here for $4, a price I would gladly double for the Kim Deal version. Not to denigrate the bass work “Ding” does on the EP. We love you, Ding! Three cheers for Ding! Ding Dong Hooray! Paying more money will get you physical formats and a Ralph Steadman looking shirt.
To go along with the sudden drop is “Indie Cindy” with visuals by Lamar + Nik, a team who when they're not directing music videos, are a pair of woefully mismatched cops with hilarious chemistry. The titular Cindy is just as elusive as Frank Black's lovesick doomsaying suggests, as she leads us backwards through the murder of a shitty boyfriend.
