Depeche Mode‘s new single “Soothe My Soul” sounds like an earnest attempt to craft the Violator follow ups that fans have been craving but never quite got. A sleazy sex anthem with a hi-def focus on grinding industrial synths, it doesn’t quite have the insubordinate punch of previous singles, or even “Heaven,” which I liked less than this. But for it’s technical and pop wizardry, still worth a listen.
