Ever wish you could express your hatred for exercise with interpretive dance? For all honest people the answer is yes, and “Despair” sees this dream of so many fulfilled. Two men summit a hill and are so mad at their stupid aching bodies that they burst into contortions along with the gothic shoegaze melodies of Esben and the Witch. More exercise might not help matters, but no one’s rational after scampering up a damn moor.
The band’s new album Wash the Sins Not Only the Face (crikey!) is out January 22nd.
