So far Sufjan Stevens is the only person celebrating Christmas this early that I haven’t gotten irritated with. Maybe it’s because instead of decorating his house or having loud parties that spill onto our lawns, he’s released a massive box set (Silver & Gold: Songs For Christmas Volumes 6-10). Which is where “Joy To The World” is taken from, if that wasn’t obvious. Under Sufjan’s electronic noodling and angelically auto-tuned voice, it mutates into something that could be played in slow motion as an android that’s just started to feel love is trampled to death during a Black Friday sale.
