Dirty Projectors brought a touch of the posh life to David Letterman last night, with the dense avant-pop of “About To Die” and a ymusic, a classical music sextet. After loudly announcing during a commercial break that they would “class the joint up a little,” David Longstreth and co. performed a revelrous and punchy rendition of the Swing Lo Magellan track, transporting the audience to a world of flappers, gypsies, complicated philosophy, and whatever else goes on in Longstreth’s head when he writes these tunes.
