Dominic Lord – “Pierce”

Former A$AP mob designer Dominic Lord left the hot crew to pursue a solo career as a musician. Some will perhaps say, “But Dominic, A$AP is getting HUGE these days! Rocky even made a video with Lana D! You’d be crazy to leave!” If you were worried for him (you are a good person), his first offering “Pierce” gently tells you to stop worrying for people you don’t know, they’ll be fine.

“Pierce” is a subtle explosion of arty-fashion and introspective rapping that grasps for artistry outside of the A$AP aesthetic. Backed by a bombastic Hudson Mohawke beat that’s fit for a watched throne, Lord’s pensive stares and gravel-voiced rhymes display an emotional depth, while looking real good all the while. Oddly, the video cuts abruptly at the two-minute mark, which is either a mistake or a huge fucking tease. More to come soon I’m sure.
