Some memories flare up and sear the crevices of your mind like a cattle brand. The one that continually resurfaces for me is that one time where that thing happened to me and I had a feeling of some sort that made me evoke an emotion. It’s so vivid. Thieving Iron’s video for “Poison” is all about memory and what you can never forget.
“Always on my mind” becomes an actualized mantra in this clip, wherein memories are streaming across faces like a flickering television screen, which makes me think, “Why didn’t you go HD? There wouldn’t be any issues!” Anyway, the metaphor still stands, as different vignettes of skateboarders, old people, and a half-naked woman who is maybe sad stare contemplatively, thinking about stuff. What kind of stuff? Probably about life or what shows are on tonight. Ending with melting colors that mimic melting memory synapses, the clanging and chugging indie rock soundtracks the person you can’t seem to stop thinking about. Me? KATE WINSLET!!!
Behold, This Dreamer is out June 5.
