Friends – “Mind Control”

The future. What does it hold? Are you a psychic? Can you tell me how I will die? I have no idea what I will do in the next few seconds, let alone the next year! I need guidance/to be told what to do, otherwise I’ll be forced to think of things myself, which totally sucks generally speaking. Friends’ video for “Mind Control” doesn’t agree with my sentiment, taking us us into a realistic version of the future, which will apparently look very similar to the eighties, and boy, we know how well that went, am I right (I did not grow up in the eighties, so I have no idea)?!

The third video from the album Manifest! finds lead singer Samantha Urbani as a renegade soldier, fighting against corrupt corporations and men with security cameras for heads. Her voice mimics a digital siren—a warning call to wake us up from our living nightmare, following orders from taking pills to control our emotions, reality television rotting our brains, robo-men who are mean, etc. We must destroy our capitalist oppressors, guys! It’s really important, I think.
