Grizzly Bear — "While You Wait For The Others"

As we saw with the video for "Two Weeks," a Grizzly Bear video isn't a Grizzly Bear video unless it's weird. The Sean Pecknold-directed (Fleet Foxes) clip for Veckatimest's "While You Wait For The Others" features strange floating hands and clocks and far too many people in creepy fencing masks sitting around waiting.

Franz Ferdinand Save Saturday At Virgin Festival Ontario

While hundreds of thousands of British and European fans were mucking about in the fields at the Reading and Leeds festivals in England this weekend, Virgin Festival Ontario couldn't even fill Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre, which has a capacity of 16,000 people. Virgin Festival Ontario was originally to be held at Orillia, Ont.'s Burl's Creek...

Grizzly Bear Are Brilliant In Toronto

I think it's safe to say no one was as surprised as Grizzly Bear when their latest long player, Veckatimest, showed up at #8 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. The band have been lauded in HTML script, music mags and by fellow artists alike, but they'd never been rewarded with 33,000 records sold in a single week before. It's a noteworthy...

Grizzly Bear — Veckatimest

This is a big jump for New York-based quartet Grizzly Bear. While the vast array of musical instruments and sounds compiled on 2006's Yellow House made for a most adventurous and diverse album, Veckatimest fully captures the band's current musical vision, while the overall production quality has been increased tenfold. It's a creative leap...

Radiohead Cause Rainbows

Friday marked the seventh time I've seen Radiohead and, for a number of reasons, it may have been the best show I've seen them perform. But this show also had a few interesting subplots, both for myself and the other 16,000 or so in attendance. Here are three short stories about the Radiohead show: The Blackout The last time Radiohead were...

Grizzly Bear — Yellow House

I'm not exactly sure why I didn't get around to listening to Yellow House until near the end of the year, but I'm glad I got around to it. It's not hard to understand why the record geeks are freaking out about Grizzly Bear — they sound exactly like Olivia Tremor Control and Circulatory System, tempered by Animal Collective's vocal atmospherics....

TV On The Radio Dress To Impress

I'm the first to admit that TV On The Radio come off on paper as extremely pretentious art rockers. Just look at the band in the pages of the October issue of Chart. In addition to looking like models from East Village Hipster Monthly, lead singer Tunde Adebimpe's face is covered in a bandana. I'm pretty sure Brooklyn isn't under attack right now...

MP3 Roundup: New Music from Grizzly Bear's Daniel Rossen, Bahamas, and The Chieftains (ft. Bon Iver)

Daniel Rossen - “Saint Nothing” Brooklyn's Grizzly Bear are hard at work on their next album, but multi-instrumentalist Daniel Rossen has his own musical bun in the oven. On March 19th, Rossen will release his solo EP, Silent Hour / Golden Mile, comprised of five songs originally considered to be new Grizzly Bear material. Among those tracks is...

WATCH: CANT - "Too Late, Too Far" official music video

A round of applause goes to Neighborhood Watch, who produced this WTF music video for CANT's sexy single "Too Late Too Far." They've produced a near perfect visual treatment for this dark electro-pop, conjuring images of murder, the occult, and those dogs that have dreadlocks. CANT, better known as Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor, recently released a...

I Read The News Today... For June 21, 2011

Cancer Bats are working on the follow-up to last year's Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones, which they say should feature plenty of Sabbath-esque riffs. And, y'know... screaming. That, too. Anet Mook, singer for '90s indie rockers Cay, died earlier this month after she was hit by a bus in Amsterdam. Her funeral was held last Thursday.Your mom...

Super Bowl Ads: Grizzly Bear, Arcade Fire

Who needs hard rock music in Super Bowl commercials? Really? Although this year's Super Bowl featured a halftime performance from rock 'n' roll dinosaurs, some of this year's commercials included music from indie rock bands. As we mentioned on Wednesday (Feb. 3), Arcade Fire licensed Funeral's "Wake Up" to the NFL, which the sports...

Grizzly Bear's Music In New Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ryan Gosling Movies

Grizzly Bear have contributed music to Jack Goes Boating, the upcoming Philip Seymour Hoffman (Doubt, Capote) film in which the Academy Award-winning actor also makes his directorial debut.
