Spinal Tap Should Replug

It wasn't hard to get excited going into this show. Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer are comic geniuses, and the personas and songs they've created through various film projects like This Is Spinal Tap, A Mighty Wind and Waiting For Guffman have been making people howl for more than two decades. By night's end, though, one...

Spinal Tap's Ridiculous Album Artwork

Spinal Tap fans are going to either be extremely proud of themselves or very irritated when they try and turn the carton that holds the upcoming Back From The Dead into this: This nifty thingie is totally awesome — as long as you're good at paper dolls, folding stuff and puzzles. Those of us who are good at puzzles but are all thumbs are going...

Pumping: Spinal Tap - Back From The Dead

The packaging for this album is ridiculous. It's essentially a pop-up book-type design with giant images of the band standing over top a bunch of fans and a Stonehenge set. Spinal Tap Are Back From Dead

It's not known if Spinal Tap's first real album since 1992's Break Like The Wind will have something on its cover that will offend record company A&R people (like a greased, naked woman, say), but maybe some kind of zombie will be featured when Back From The Dead hits stores on June 16. The 19-track disc will feature guest appearances from...

Spinal Tap Go Acoustic

Spinal Tap will tour North America this spring and will hopefully have their acoustic guitars turned up to 11. David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean), Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest) and Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer), who appeared in the 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap with keyboardist "Caucasian" Jerry Vanston (C.J. Vanston), will...

Christmas Records Time Forgot

Do you want to make a fast buck? There's nothing better than taking a hot musical fad and mixing it with everybody's favourite holiday, Christmas. While this marriage of pop music and Xmas has existed for decades, most of the records rarely last past their initial season of release. Some end up becoming iconic, like the ones by Elvis Presley and...

Spinal Tap, Simpsons, DVDs And CDs: Harry Shearer Pimps Them All

Harry Shearer is a busy man these days. Besides working on regrowing his infamous Derek Smalls handlebar moustache for a Spinal Tap reunion show at London, England's Wembley Stadium on July 7 as part of the global Live Earth concert series, he's playing a few shows supporting his wife Judith Owen's new Here CD, recording his own Connect The Dots...
