- The Mod Club
- 4.5 / 5

Background/ Composition:
These guys are four Victoria, B.C. boys I'd say you could fairly call pop rock due to their commercial success writing poppy rock songs.
Grade: 90
Comment:
You'd expect high marks for a band like Hot Hot Heat, and they earned 'em. Granted, The Mod Club is a great venue when it comes to light shows (and they took full advantage of that), but more than anything the band performed as showmen.
Achievement of Rock 'n' Roll Expectations
80-100: Exceeds skill and knowledge expectations, i.e. rocked us so hard we peed our pants.
70-79: Achieves required skills and knowledge. Meets rock 'n' roll standard.
60-69: Demonstrates some skills. Approaches rock 'n' roll standard.
50-59: Demonstrates some required skills and knowledge in a limited way.
00-50: Has not demonstrated required skills or knowledge.
Learning Skills: E=Excellent, G=Good, S=Satisfactory, N=Sad Really
Oral And Visual Communication

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
Frontman Steve Bays stole the show with his stage antics, including rolling around and singing from his back. The light show was top-notch as expected, and at one point thousands of bubbles floated down over the audience.

Audience Participation: G
Sound: G

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
Some of the best bands out there still haven't mastered the art of the setlist. Hot Hot Heat, on the other hand, have earned their degree. Closing their set with "Middle Of Nowhere" into "Bandages" was a pro move.
Other Skills And Areas Of Interest

Indie Rock Footwear: E
Nods To Disposible Fashion: G
Cool Equipment: G

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
There's not much I can tell you about Hot Hot Heat that you don't already know. Band plays show, band rocks show. 'Nuff said.
