- Toronto, ON
- The Drake Hotel
- 3.5 / 5

Background/Composition:
This Toronto-based band draw influences heavily from their label mates The D'Urbervilles on top of sharing member Kyle Donnelly. Tim Bruton can also be found in Guelph, Ont.'s The Magic.
Grade: 79
Comment:
Forest City Lovers are the kind of band you can always feel great about choosing to see. They're talented, soft spoken and use a wide variety of instrumentation to set them apart from other acts in their genre.
Achievement of Rock 'n' Roll Expectations
80-100: Exceeds skill and knowledge expectations, i.e. rocked us so hard we peed our pants.
70-79: Achieves required skills and knowledge. Meets rock 'n' roll standard.
60-69: Demonstrates some skills. Approaches rock 'n' roll standard.
50-59: Demonstrates some required skills and knowledge in a limited way.
00-50: Has not demonstrated required skills or knowledge.
Learning Skills: E=Excellent, G=Good, S=Satisfactory, N=Sad Really
Oral And Visual Communication
Eye Contact: G
Pronunciation: G
Stage Presence: E
Stage Banter: G

Use Of Stage: E
Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
Forest City Lovers are not the kind of band you see if you want to rock your night away. They're a band for... well... lovers. Quiet, folk-based, skillful songwriting by leading lady Kat Burns doesn't leave anything to be desired if you're in the mood for some slow dancing.
Musical Analysis

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
The addition of Bruton really adds an extra element to Forest City Lovers that was perhaps lacking in their formative years. Forest City Lovers have grown as a band into a more mature, refined sound. They work very closely as a band to create beautiful pieces, but also to showcase each members unique skills.

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
Forest City Lovers played a set that may not have been well suited to The Drake Underground's usually raucous nature. To really appreciate their abilities as a band, they definitely need a different venue that can convey the sadness that lines most of their songs.
