Canadians can be happy for several reasons. Billy Klippert isn’t Clay Aiken and Billy Klippert isn’t William Hung. Billy Klippert, unlike most of the Idol ilk, actually tried to make a rock record. He’s got a few things working against him though, the Idol stigma, the fact he had a band called Kovered In Lies and those stupid sunglasses permanently attached to his forehead.

This debut effort is little more than slicked-up bar rock, but it’s got some catchy moments. Klippert co-wrote the majority of the songs and tunes like the apt-for-driving "Days Are Numbered," and closing tune "Reckless Beauty" are pretty decent, albeit standard rock songs/power ballads. There’s still a bit of vocal overkill and nasal singing ("Levon"), but Klippert is exploring his potential.
