Ween - Live In Chicago

If we're lucky, Ween will go down as the alt.rock generation's Grateful Dead. Live In Chicago is the fourth concert recording from the chemically-enhanced duo of Dean and Gene Ween, who made this album while touring to the Windy City last year in support of their eighth record, the deranged Quebec.

Cherry-picking the best moments from a two-night stand at Chicago's Vic Theatre, this solid, career-spanning set offers up the band's usual stylistic car crashes.  "Even If You Don't," "Voodoo Lady" and a few warped reinterpretations, (Quebec's "Zoloft" transmutes into a seven-minute quasi-prog wank) grace this album.

The accompanying DVD provides a more enriching glimpse into the fucked-up gonzo spectacle of Ween in concert, but the CD should be enough of a contact high to rope in curious newbies. Enjoy responsibly.
