It's good to see that someone can take the basic tenets of ska and apply them to other aspects of popular music besides punk (and lets give props to Stomp, a ska punk label, for recognizing the need to freshen things up!). Many of the cuts offered up by Boudin Soundclash are definitely grounded in the ska sounds of late ‘60s Jamaica before The Specials or later bands like The Planet Smashers tied it all to punk. Lucky for us, Bedouin Soundclash take things in a new direction, successfully marrying ska to a soul-oriented pop sound, tempered by touches of folk and reggae. Another good gazing at the big blazing sun with an umbrella drink in my hand kind of summer record.
