Toronto’s Jacksoul continues to be dictionary definition of classic R&B. Recently many acts who label themselves as "R&B" and pump the rhythm, but ignore the soul. But Jacksoul’s secret is an unwavering and unashamed nod to the past R&B greats. (What group still snap their fingers and clap their hands?)
Like their last album Sleepless, Jacksoul sequel their repertoire of sexed-up jazz, funk, and doo-wop. Front-man Haydain Neale’s superhuman falsetto resurrects Al Green in "Everyday Sunrise" and "I think you should know" unseals Stevie Wonder of yesteryear.
Even if Jacksoul emulates ‘70’s make-out music, at least they pop a wintergreen mint into the mouth of old school soul.
