Valley Of The Giants could be construed as a supergroup of sorts, given that the project involves Canadian music manipulators Brendan Canning (Broken Social Scene), Charles Spearin (Do Make Say Think) and Sophie Trudeau (Godspeed You! Black Emperor), among others.
Ostensibly inspired by a viewing of the sci-fi western flick, Westworld, the parties assemble a collection of alluring soundscapes. The group work with a wide range of musical palettes, be it the melancholy scores of Ennio Morricone, the walls of noise perfected by My Bloody Valentine or the grim modern classical tones popularized by composers such as Dmitry Shostakovich, it all works. Valley Of The Giants cast a wide musical net and reap some true rewards.
