Owen Pallett made a name for himself arranging strings for Arcade Fire, Hidden Cameras and Jim Guthrie, among many others. In 2005, he became a solo star with Final Fantasy. On Has A Good Home, a record written for his boyfriend, Pallett looped lush melodies underneath hushed vocals and had the indie crowd swooning. It doesn't hurt that he performs with a cunning mix of humour and delicacy, pierced by the occasional impassioned yell. There are some great indie pop acts in Canada right now, but with immaculately crafted songs such as "This Is The Dream Of Win And Regine" and the swirling "The CN Tower Belongs To The Dead," Pallett easily established himself as one of the most indispensable.
