Now that she's an indie pop star, Annie goes back to the turntables to compile the latest installment of the DJ-Kicks series. The song selection is everything you'd expect from a whimsical, cute Norwegian girl — '80s numbers like La Bionda's Italo-dance hit "I Wanna Be Your Lover" and Bow Wow's "I Want Candy" are arranged next to disco-fied mixes of Le Tigre's "Nanny Nanny Boo Boo" and Death From Above 1979's "Black History Month." Meanwhile, Annie's own house-burnin' tracks "Gimme Your Money" and "Wedding" fit nicely between dark, sci-fi electro cuts like Brundtland and Therson's "Geared Up." For such a diverse song selection, Annie has assembled a surprisingly engaging hour-long mix.
