On this self-titled debut, Canadian Idol hopeful Jacob Hoggard and his band of merry outlaws deliver a mezzo-mezzo punk-pop album that, depending on your attention span, may or may not rock you. Recorded at Vancouver's legendary Armoury Studios, Hedley (aided by 54-40's Dave Genn), supply a plethora of moshable tunes ("Villain," "321," "Johnny Falls"), but they're a little too heavy on the keepin'-it-real/anarchy vibe, and not in a Sex Pistols way. Hoggard's lyrics ("My 15 minutes of fame are done/And I don't care/Now I'm a sell out/but I'm not the only one with name brand shoes on/You fucking moron") requires some maturity, but you gotta give them props for their singable hooks and endearing party riffs a la Jimmy Eat World.
