Supergrass — Road To Rouen
- Road To Rouen
- Parlophone/EMI
- 4 / 5

Underrated Brit rockers Supergrass are looking for trouble. They're following up their raucous Supergrass Is 10 with a new record of comparatively slower numbers. It's inevitable that some fans will be disappointed — nothing rocks, it's barely danceable and the hooks are harder to find. On the other hand this is the perfect antidote to their Best Of.
Road To Rouen is a folk-filled affair complete with plenty of acoustic guitar, horns and Lennon-esque melodies. The alt.country "Low C" is straight out of the '70s, while Rouen's opener "Tales Of Endurance" would fit perfectly next to Led Zeppelin's "That's The Way." This softer side of Supergrass will eventually be forgotten, but it shouldn't be dismissed yet — it's a perfect comedown to their spastic Greatest Hits.
