Foo Fighters — Greatest Hits

Music Review
Foo Fighters' Greatest Hits

If, like me, you enjoy the first three Foo Fighters discs, but think they kind of fell off after that and — very much like Weezer — kept releasing albums that contained maybe two good songs amidst tons of other tripe, there's probably a good chance you'll enjoy the new Foo Fighters Greatest Hits album.

All the hits are included here, from "Big Me" to "The Pretender," and two new tracks — "Wheels" and "Word Forward" — are also thrown in at the end. This effectively means you edit out all the crap (read: everything but the singles) from the Foos' three most recent albums, and, in the words of FUBAR's Terry and Dean, "turn up the good, turn down the suck."

"Stacked Actors" is sadly omitted, and probably would have been a better choice than "Skin And Bones" or "Word Forward." The former track always lacked punch, while the latter seems like a half-thought throw-in.

Overall, though, Greatest Hits should serve to show why Dave Grohl's post-Nirvana career matters. Sure, not every song he writes is killer, but that hardly matters because at least 12 of the tunes on this disc are.
