This former rodeo rider and punk rocker (The Smalls) has now found that singing about the country suits him best. Throughout these 13 uplifting ditties, which run the gamut from traditional country to blues, western swing and roots rock, Lund lauds his home and native land. Highlights include "Counterfeit Blues" — a swampy tune featuring some great slide guitar and the light-hearted "The Truck Got Stuck." Guests include a pair of country music veterans: the venerable poet cowboy Ian Tyson ("The Rodeo's Over") and Nashville folk legend/producer Ramblin' Jack Elliot ("The Truck Got Stuck Talkin' Blues"). This "Hurtin' Albertan" shows that at 37 he's just entering his musical prime.
