- Fat Wreck Chords
- 3 / 5

Conundrums are always fun to figure out and Against Me! provide a whopper of one on their latest disc. On the one hand, the band mix rockabilly flair and southern desert rock flavour with fairly standard melodic punk, bringing something truly different to a rotting husk of a genre. However, by the second half of Searching For A Former Clarity the band just regurgitate what they've done on the first part. Sure, the hooks are genuinely catchy (none of that whiny pop-punk bullshit), but they draw from the same well far too often on an album that is far too long for its own good. Maybe they should be searching for focus and consistency instead.
