Few Can-rock comebacks are more pitiful than Hugh Dillon's constant attempts to resurrect his post-Headstones musical career.
Nothing here even resembles, let alone equals that great first Headstones album. I remember Hugh Dillon as the guy who sang tough shit like "God loves me/God loves you/God loves Hitler and them six million Jews," not this sad sap who views his diary as publishable material.
Dillon's biggest failing is in believing he's this twisted, complex guy. He even named one track "Puzzle I Am." But if anything, the dude's obviously plain and boring. You get the feeling on Works Well With Others that he doesn't even care about the music anymore, maybe the lyrics, but definitely not the music.
Dillon and his producer, Hip guitarist Paul Langois, back Dillon's "insights" with sonic wallpaper, filling the space with just enough sound to allow it to be defined as a song.
I swear, this guy was so much more interesting when he was on heroin.

Have to agree with the previous commenters. Your last paragraph is way beyond the pale. A truly shitty thing to say that also adds nothing to your (already weak) critical case. Try this on for size: Jared Morano might be a better writer if he was on heroin. Let's all urge him to please find out.
Isn't a review supposed to do just that? Review it? What you have written is a comparison to a band from 20 years ago. You are obviously a Headstones fan, so maybe that's clouded your judgement and made you incapable of giving a proper review to this new album and new band.
Let me give you a hand...The single "Friends of Mine" is a catchy tune that you'll find yourself humming after you hear it. "Lost at Sea" is a beautiful ballad with a Leonard Cohen feel to it. And "Radio Plays" is a haunting song which is almost an hommage to a forgotten medium. This is a great album, by a great musician, and you can tell from the words and the feeling that he exudes that he is still struggling to keep himself sober and that he is thankful to be alive after his ordeal with drugs. I would give it at least three stars...and I find anyone more interesting OFF drugs...

You seem to have confused your job of reviewing this album with airing personal insults, and quite ignorantly written they are.
