Crazy. Manic. Sophomoric. Incoherent. Dislexic.
Each of these words could describe this group of twisted men who are known collectively as Gogol Bordello. The band and the musical schtick smacks of being conceived in a university dorm. Everything here is based on inside jokes, whether it's the band name, the album title or song titles like "Through The Roof 'N Underground" and "Huliganjetta."
Musically, the sextet mixes punk and ska with Klezmer and Eastern European folk music. One moment, the group sound like the poor Bulgarian cousins of Mighty Mighty Bosstones and at other times like the punk sons of The Shmenge Brothers.
Overall, this is perfect frat music, the soundtrack to getting completely blotto and dancing around in your underwear, spastically throwing your limbs around until you collapse in a puddle of your own puke. Enjoy the morning after!
