The good news: In typical Tony Iommi fashion, the mustachioed guitar virtuoso knows that us metal mutants need a ton of power chord fury. The bad news: In typical Iommi fashion, the dude can’t pick a lead singer to save his life. Working with aging spectre Glenn Hughes makes this effort feel like a Chris Cornell cast-off (albeit with cooler riffing) circa "Spoonman." However, if Hughes was able to string together words half as well as Cornell, then this disc might be salvageable. Cheesy, dated and with way too much caterwauling, Fused is yet another forgettable Iommi project.
