Boys Night Out made a name for themselves with 2004's Make Yourself Sick, winning the hearts of the Warped Tour crowd with their earnest singalong choruses and energetic live show. Trainwreck sees the band branch out beyond simple pop hooks to create urgent, bombastic bursts of emotion with the devastating force of, well, a train wreck. All the songs have a certain immediacy that pulls the listener in, though they know how to use dynamics to keep the songs from blending together. Trainwreck is a much-needed breath of fresh air in a genre that is growing staler by the day.
