It's both surprising and angering that a band like Dredg can slip under everyone's radar when so many lesser bands get infinitely more attention. With their third LP, they've managed to focus the lush, atmospheric landscapes found on their last two albums, making for their most accessible effort to date but never sacrificing their indulgent art-rock tendencies for commercial appeal. Songs like "Sang Real" simmer with emotion while opener "Ode To The Sun" offers a cathartic, hard rockin' experience that's no less brainy in spite of its aggressive nature. Hopefully this will be Dredg's big break so they can continue to make albums like this for years to come.
