The Diableros — Old Story, Fresh Road
- Old Story, Fresh Road
- Outside
- 3.5 / 5

The Diableros set two goals for this five-song EP and they've accomplished both:
1. They were aiming to replicate of what they sound like live.
2. They've returned to the "intense sounds" that marked their debut, You Can't Break The Strings In Our Olympic Hearts (or that, apparently, were absent on 2007's Aren't Ready For The Country).
On Aren't Ready, the alt.rock five-piece focused on song structure and tinkered with the possibility that a single instrument, or even a few repeated notes on a guitar, could make or break a tune. On Old Story, Fresh Road, the mood is a little more loose.
This could be good or bad news depending on which of their full lengths you like best. Old Story does more closely resemble the frenetic pace of You Can't Break, but it's at the expense of instantly memorable songs like Aren't Ready's "Turning Backwards" and "Nothing Down In Hogtown."
