The Raveonettes — In And Out Of Control
- In And Out Of Control
- Vice
- 3 / 5

The latest offering from The Raveonettes isn't a bad album by any means, but it's about as substantial as a piece of candy.
In And Out Of Control lacks the booming, heavy rush of Whip It On and Chain Gang Of Love, the sheer dark pop perfection of Pretty In Black and even the pretty, haunting moodiness of Lust Lust Lust. It just kind of sits there in The Raveonettes oeuvre.
The songs are a little dancier this time around, but other than that they seem to be treading water. It's not that the formula's no longer pleasing. Sweet vocals and charming girl group melodies juxtaposed with twisted lyrics are just as fun as they've always been, except for "Boys Who Rape (Should All Be Destroyed)," which pushes the formula to the point of self-parody, but it's not as long-lasting as it has been in the past.
The sugar rush is fun while you're in it, but it's over just as quickly as it began, leaving you craving for something more.
