In an alternate universe, Ford Pier would be an operatic pop singer singing with orchestras. Thankfully, in our world, he is an almost ridiculously versatile performer who has lent his skills to bands such as D.O.A. and currently, Operation Infinite Justice with Martin Tielli.
Pier-ic Victory draws all of his influences into play, resulting in a mind-boggling work of epic proportions. Wild time signatures, power chords and wide-ranging instrumentation all back up Pier’s razor-sharp and often highly confessional lyrics. Friends such as Tielli, The Weakerthans’ Jason Tait and producer Michael-Phillip Wojewoda all appear on the album. With any other artist, this album would be a complete mess, but Pier makes beauty out of chaos, resulting in an incredibly listenable record.
