Mission Of Burma — The Sound The Speed The Light

Now more prolific in reunion than in their original incarnation, Boston college rock heroes Mission Of Burma return with their third post-reformation full-length, The Sound The Speed The Light. The album doesn't quite beget the pomposity of its moniker, but it's a solid enough effort given the context.
Opening cut "1, 2, 3 Partyy!" sets the tone with its trademark post-punk chug and a level of grating urgency that tempers most MOB tracks. And much like subsequent songs "Blunder" and "So Fuck It," the music is far more serious than the song titles would lead to you believe. These guys aren't messing around, so don't expect anything approaching playful and joyous, at least not this time out.
The Sound The Speed The Light echoes the sound of a band with a message, which essentially seems to be Burma's mission these days.
