- Epic/Sony BMG
- 3 / 5

Shakira returns with her first Spanish album since she went English on her 13-times-platinum Laundry Service. Fijacion Oral opens with the poetic love song "En Tus Pupilas" (In Your Pupils), while "La Tortura" — an upbeat dance number — is the disc's highlight. Here, Shakira sings with Spanish rock star Alejandro Sanz, recalling some of her best work (think Pies Descalzos). Another highlight, "Obtener Un Si," features the Orchestra-backed Shakira creating a 1930's Latin jazz feel.
Overall, Fijacion Oral Vol. 1 will appeal to people who've recently discovered the pop star, but long-time Latin fans will be disappointed that she's straying further and further from her roots.
