After honing her skills in Toronto stage musicals, it's no surprise that Divine Brown can adapt her voice to any number of musical styles. First single "Old Skool Love" is a flashback to the sweet simplicity of classic Motown 45s, but the rest of her debut is all over the genre map — from the jazzy "Without You" to the soulful "U Shook Me," from a Joni Mitchell cover to more modern R&B sounds, her talent is on display throughout. The whole LP shines, though the more traditional styles stand out because she can use her voice to the fullest.
