At this point, anyone not in on the Metalocalypse gag must be living under six feet of rock. So we're going to skip the cartoon hero back story and get to the meat of this album made of tunes fleshed out from the few seconds we hear of them on the show (what a great marketing gimmick, by the way).
This follow-up shot of death metal spiced with elements of guitar wankery, lyrical hilarity and technical prodigy is simply stunning and proves the success of 2007's The Dethalbum was no fluke. Overall, Dethalbum II sounds exactly like its predecessor, with similar production values, distortion and vocals to create epic tracks such as opener "Bloodlines," "Laser Cannon Deth Sentence" and "Murmaider II: The Water God."
Dethalbum II is an engaging double-helping of furious metallic fun. This release stands on its own feet and it appears as if once again, one man hiding behind cartoon characters has done metal better than any of his real-life contemporaries.
