Rain Machine — Rain Machine

Music Review
Rain Machine's self-titled album

It was only a matter of time before one of TV On The Radio's members released a solo album. It would have been easy to think that member would have been David Sitek, considering all his production work and the solo track he contributed to the Dark Was The Night compilation earlier this year. But singer/guitarist Kyp Malone beat him to it and he's done it under the Rain Machine moniker.

Rain Machine begins with the very TV On The Radio-esque "Give Blood," which wouldn't be out of place on last year's Dear Science. But from there, things get a little bit more laid back, as most of the rest of the album is comprised of lower key, acoustic tracks.

Some of these succeed and show Malone's versatility as a songwriter. But the problem is that there's too many of them, and for the most part they drag what could have been an interesting album into monotony.
