Liam Finn And Eliza Jane — Champagne In Seashells

Liam Finn proved himself worthy recipient of any of the breaks that having Crowded House singer Neil Finn as your father affords with his debut solo record, I'll Be Lightning.

This five-track EP sees Eliza Jane-Barnes, a long-time member of Finn's touring band, stepping into the spotlight on vocals as Finn continues to explore pop music through lo-fi analog recording equipment.

Barnes co-wrote three tracks and even takes lead vocal duty on closer "On Your Side." While Finn's voice is still the focal point here, her contributions only enhance what are already pretty terrific tunes.

Finn and Jane-Barnes have also started a band tentatively called Having A Baby and already have a full-length in the can. It may be some time before we get a proper follow up to Lightning, but this EP will certainly satiate fans until then.
