The most rewarding thing you can do with a Loudon Wainwright record is put it on your stereo, turn it up and take it all in. His uncanny ability to create musically complex songs, coupled with evocative narratives that are straightforward, yet deeply poetic hasn't waned. Wainwright and band weave folksy pickings, bluesy jams and country twang around tales of his grandparents, the paranoia of living in Los Angeles and his regrets about being an absentee-father. Wainwright uses his rich, emotive voice to lament, amuse and educate.
