First off, even though this record is a collaboration, it's not between The Hulk, Sub-Mariner and Dr. Strange, although these Defenders do have a lot of power. It's actually Canuck garage rocker King Khan and BBQ working with The Black Lips and it's pretty well what you would expect from these guys: a collection of lo-fi garage rock and gut bucket blues kickin' and gougin' in the mud, the blood and the beer. There's also an element of the darker spiritual stuff both bands have propagated in the past (although this time, it might have been inspired by the fact that The Black Lips had just fled India after they got in hot water over some slutty stage antics). This is the record that can start off your Saturday night rocking while still being able to scrub away even the toughest sins hung over on Sunday morning. Amen.
