OK, The Bravery do sound like The Killers. But who cares? The Killers sound like 900 other bands, so who's ripping off who, really? It's obvious why Killers' frontman Brandon Flowers is dissing these guys in the press — they're doing his thing better. Lead singer Sam Endicott's vocals and lyrics are stronger than Flowers'. The Bravery's hooks on songs such as the anthemic "Fearless" and disc opener "An Honest Mistake" show these New Yorkers could have more staying power than the Las Vegas new wavers. The Bravery's debut dies a little toward the end, but Endicott is a magnetic presence, a voice and songwriting talent that outdistances his band from some of the new new wave also-rans.
