Robert Schneider doesn't need to impress anyone. His indie rock legacy as a founding member of the Elephant 6 collective and as producer of Neutral Milk Hotel's In An Aeroplane Over The Sea is looking pretty damn solid.
Then there's the short analog blasts of Beatles-esque melodies and Cheap Trick guitars in the continuously spectacular records he makes with The Apples In Stereo. Despite several brushes with the mainstream — gracing The Powerpuff Girls soundtrack and appearing on The Colbert Report twice — the band have retained their cult status.
For the devoted — and there are many — this collection is completely unnecessary. Cherry-picking songs from their six studio albums as well as the aforementioned Powerpuff Girls track "Signal In The Sky (Let's Go)," the record is aimed squarely at the uninitiated and serves as the perfect introduction to this excellent group.
