Johnny Major — The Starter Kit
- The Starter Kit
- Independent
- 4 / 5

Johnny Major's debut EP combines the smooth synths of bands like MGMT and Phoenix and infuses them with soothing soul.
The disc was engineered by Ed Krautner (Avril Lavigne, Sum 41) and mastered by Joao Carvalho (Matthew Good Band, Alexisonfire). Dason "D Major" Johnson and Justin "Johnny Boy" Keszei have produced a short EP that encapsulates the spirit of funk, groove, pop and keys in six glorious tracks.
Standouts include "Paper Chaser" and "Sasha Twenty Four," which highlights their abilities to write smooth jams, blend the band's vocals and showcase their diverse musical backgrounds. "Paper Chaser" will be the one that puts them on the map, as it's drums and synths are a little reminiscent of USS with a shot of urban flare. If this is The Starter Kit, I'm eagerly anticipating the arrival of the full package.
