- One Scene To Another: Plumline Records’ Tribute To Canadian Indie Rock

- 2 / 5

A compilation featuring 16 Motor City bands re-interpreting Canadian indie classics, One Scene To Another is decidedly listless for a project supposedly driven by fan-like enthusiasm. Tiny Steps takes a spirited shot at The Super Friendz’s "10 Lbs" and Mood Elevator channels the rave-up energy of Sloan’s "Money City Maniacs" through a Burt Bacharach filter, but for the most part these new renditions will make you pine for the originals. It may be a labour of love, but this record’s ‘90s vintage and limited scope — Eric’s Trip, Sloan, Thrush Hermit and The Super Friendz are all covered twice — make it feel dated and kind of pointless.
