When was the last time you heard a hip-hop record that suffered from too much modesty? On his latest release, Halifax-based MC and producer Classified comes off like a rap version of Woody Allen, constantly questioning his personal faults and his chances at commercial success. While this hand-wringing makes him charmingly vulnerable, his whiny tone drags down some truly original tracks, like the brother-on-brother battle "Sibling Rivalry" and the bagpipe-drenched "The Maritimes." Classified wears his hip-hop loving heart on his sleeve, but he needs to focus on demonstrating his skills rather than chastising listeners for not appreciating them
