Looking at the track names on Halifax's The Got To Get Got's debut should give you a sense as to the group's sound.
The band reference everything from '80s thrash metal ("Hell Awaits, Maybe") to the aughts indie ("Some Loud Thunder Clap Your Hands Say Boom") and are a great synthesis of sound.
There's an overwhelming sense of a party throughout Sahalee as if the sound booth was continually filled with the band's friends. But all the fooling around and a slew of studio guests — nine additional musicians contributed to Sahalee — can't drown out the sextet's indisputable pop hooks.
Even though I'm not entirely sure what they're singing about, every song has a chorus brimming with exuberance that makes you want to sing along.
