If the Junction know anything at all, it's how to write a catchy pop-rock summer jam.
Their new album, Another Link In The Chain, goes as well with a sunny day next to the barbque as an ice cold glass of your favorite lime-flavoured beer. The album absolutely shines on the horn-filled "Level With Me," the hand-clapping "My Love Was There" and "Under The Night Sky."
The only problem is the strength of the poppier songs cause the slower songs to act as sedatives. "Miles In Denial" and "Out Of Here" sound like songs The Stills wrote, but threw away. Having such an uneven mix makes the sequencing painful to handle.
Another Link In The Chain is only the band's second album, having followed 2007's self-titled effort. Given time to solve their minor identity crisis, The Junction could very well become one of the country's best pop bands. In the meantime, copy this CD into iTunes and make an EP of the better songs because the good songs are really good. It'll be one of the best EPs of the summer.
