While Britney Spears' music just isn't the same without the accompanying videos (FYI: there's also a My Prerogative DVD available), this retrospective is interesting beyond it's photo-laden silver foil package. Following Brit's journey from hapless (but not entirely charmless) teen to singing robot is fascinating — her increasing tendency to work with flashy producers rather than decent songwriters becomes painfully clear as early tracks like "Sometimes" and "Lucky" are sandwiched between over-wrought clunkers like "Outrageous" and "Me Against The Music." The Bobby Brown title track is particularly noxious and over-produced, but Britney redeems herself with two additional new songs that surprisingly recapture some of her early spark.
