Barenaked For The Holidays kicks off with a mournful rendition of "Jingle Bells" and you can’t help but want to give Steven Page a hug. The modern Christmas pop song is hard to pull off and at 20 tracks, the disc stumbles at times. There’s the overly sentimental "Hannukah Blessings" and "Snowman" (featuring the creepy lament "I melt away,") and an unnecessary remake of "Do They Know It’s Christmas?" But it’s the fun moments — like "Happy Birthday" to Jesus, the East-Coast tinged "I Saw Three Ships" and a duet with Sarah McLachlan, that make this disc interesting.
